Are There Dental Health Benefits to Eating Cheese?
Do you like eating cheese? If so, then you are likely doing your teeth a service. When you eat cheese, you coat your teeth in what is called casein. This protects your teeth from the items that you eat and drink after the cheese. It allows your teeth to have a coating that prevents tooth decay to some degree. It is no substitute for a solid oral hygiene routine and coming to see us, but it does help. Plus, you also get the calcium from the dairy. If you are in the mood for a different snack today, consider eating some cheese, and enjoy the benefits!

Postpartum Dental Appointments Are Very Important
After having a baby, your body has a lot of recovering to do. It went through a lot during those nine months, and now it is going to take a bit of time for your body to adjust to post-pregnancy life. The same goes with your mouth as pregnancy can leave you more susceptible to gum disease and the shifting of teeth. You do not need to come in right after delivering your child, but within the first couple of months after delivery, you need to come in and get a checkup with us.

What Are We Looking for at Your Postpartum Appointment?

During your postpartum visit to our office, we are going to do a thorough cleaning and examination first. We want to make sure that the health of your mouth is as pristine as possible. We also want to make sure that your gums are no longer swollen or inflamed. This is very common due to the hormones of pregnancy. Then we are also going to make sure that your teeth are in their proper positions. Teeth that shift around is something many pregnant women face. This typically resolves itself shortly after delivery, but not always. That is why we want to take a look. In case it has not resolved itself, we want to take corrective steps now before it becomes a long-term issue.

Make sure you come in and see us after your child is born. It is a very important appointment to make, and we hope you make it between one and two months after delivery. For more information, call our office today, and we can even set up your appointment at the same time!
